TTD Launches QR Code Based Chappal Management System in Tirumala

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has introduced a QR code based chappal management system in Tirumala to prevent footwear loss and improve convenience for devotees. This new digital system was officially launched on January 13, 2026 and is designed on the same model as TTD’s luggage deposit counters.

Every year, lakhs of devotees face difficulties in retrieving their chappals after darshan due to heavy crowds. To solve this problem, TTD has now made footwear handling safer, faster, and more organized using QR technology.

How the TTD QR Code Chappal System Works

Under the new system, devotees deposit their footwear at special counters before entering the temple zone. The footwear is tagged with a QR code, which helps staff track and return it accurately after darshan.

After depositing their chappals, devotees receive a QR linked token or receipt. This token must be shown at the counter after darshan to get the footwear back.

This eliminates confusion, reduces theft, and ensures smooth crowd movement.

Steps to Deposit and Collect Chappals

Devotees must remove their footwear before entering the four mada streets around the Tirumala temple.

  • Go to the nearest TTD chappal counter
  • Place your chappals in the numbered bag provided
  • The bag is locked and stored in a matching rack
  • You receive a QR token
  • After darshan, show the token to get your chappals back

This service is completely free of cost for all devotees.

Ratha Saptami Special Update

During Ratha Saptami celebrations from January 24 to January 26, 2026, the QR based chappal counters will remain open for devotees. Only SSD counters will be closed during this period, but footwear services will continue without interruption.

Why This System Is Important

The QR based footwear system helps in:

  • Preventing chappal theft
  • Faster retrieval after darshan
  • Reducing crowd congestion
  • Providing better service to pilgrims

This is another step by TTD towards digital and devotee friendly temple management.
