Kapileswara Swamy Temple – Tirupati

History

Kapileswara Swamy Temple is a famous Shaivite temple in Tirupati, dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that Sage Kapila performed penance here, and the temple derives its name from him. The temple holds special importance as it is considered the only Shiva temple under TTD administration in Tirupati and is closely associated with spiritual purification before visiting Tirumala.

The temple is located at Kapila Theertham, about 3 km from Tirupati Railway Station.

  • By Road: Autos, taxis, and buses are easily available from Tirupati town.
  • By Rail: Tirupati Railway Station is the nearest major railhead.
  • By Air: Tirupati Airport (Renigunta) is around 18 km away.

Temple Timings

The temple is open daily, except during special ritual closures.

  • Morning: 5:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Evening: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Timings may vary on Pradosham and festival days.
